IPCC OUTREACH

The IPCC has been engaged in disseminating the findings of its reports among various audiences and regions. IPCC officials (Bureau members) and experts (Lead Authors) are often invited to make presentations at important national and international conferences and meetings. They are also available, on request, to answer questions from journalists and other members of the Press. These requests are handled via the IPCC Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.

The IPCC also organizes occasional outreach events, for example two events are planned to be held alongside the next Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC in Cancun, Mexico (November 29 - December 10, 2010). The IPCC is also happy to assist any academic, civil, business and international organization, local or national government to develop communication opportunities and information products based on IPCC scientific findings.

The numerous requests received on IPCC activities show an increasing interest in our work. In addition to regular demands from governments and academic researchers, the IPCC also receives requests from journalists, students (school children to Ph.D. level), members of civil society, researchers from the private sector, and occasionally from other international organizations. The IPCC handles many of these requests in collaboration with the respective Working Groups.

This corner aims to quickly provide users with information on IPCC news and outreach activities, as well as some activities organized by partner organizations.
